Root Amputation

Root amputation is a dental procedure whereby one root is removed from a multi-rooted tooth. The purpose of root amputation is to save a diseased tooth from extraction, as we all know that there are no better alternatives than saving a natural tooth. It is indicated when one of the roots fractured, or a large extensive decay that is going to destroy the root. The multi-rooted teeth best suited for root amputation procedure are the molar teeth because these large chewing teeth have either two or three roots. The following animated video shows how root amputation is being done.
